Scottish Open Betting Odds Preview

Most of golf’s best will be heading to the home of golf this week as they begin prep for this year’s Open Championship by playing in the Scottish Open at the Renaissance Club in North Berwick, Scotland.

This year’s Scottish Open field really does include a who’s who of the best in golf with nine of the Top-10 ranked players taking part and 31 of the Top 50. At the Bovada Sportsbook the co-favorites in this year’s tournament are Jon Rahm, Justin Thomas, and Scottie Scheffler at +1200 odds.

Rahm returns to the course for the first time since tying for 12th place in the U.S. Open back in June. At last year’s Scottish Open Rahm finished in seventh place, two shots back of tournament winner Min Woo Lee.

Thomas seeks strong result in Scottish Open

Thomas is also playing in his first tournament since the U.S. Open where he tied for 37th place. Prior to that he had finished in the top three in two of his last three tournaments which included winning the PGA Championship. Thomas played in the Scottish Open last year and finished tied for eighth place, three shots back.

Scheffler, who is still ranked No. 1 in the world, followed up tying for second in the U.S. Open by tying for 13th place in the Travelers Championship. Scheffler has four wins already this season, and in last year’s Scottish Open he finished tied for 10th place, five strokes back.

The odds on other Top-10 ranked players in the field this week include Collin Morikawa at +2500, Cameron Smith at +2800, Patrick Cantlay at +2500, Victor Hovland at +3300, Sam Burns at +2800, and Matthew Fitzpatrick at +2000.

Lee an underdog on the Scottish Open odds

At last year’s Scottish Open Min Woo Lee shot 18-under par and defeated Thomas Detry and Fitzpatrick in a playoff. Since his Scottish Open win Lee has failed to record another victory on the European Tour. In last week’s Irish Open Lee tied for 58th place, 16 shots back of the leader. Not surprisingly Lee is a +15000 underdog to repeat as Scottish Open champ, while Detry is also listed at +15000 odds at the Bovada Sportsbook.

A few other Scottish Open champs that will be in this week’s field include 2020 winner Aaron Rai (+6600), 2018 winner Brandon Stone (+30000), 2017 winner Rafa Cabrera-Bella (+40000), 2016 winner Alex Noren (+8000), 2015 winner Rickie Fowler (+15000), and 2014 winner Justin Rose (+6600).
