College Football Saturday Betting Preview
College football returns this weekend with an international game as the Nebraska Cornhuskers face the Northwestern Wildcats in Ireland.
This is of course a neutral-site matchup being played at Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland. At Bovada Sportsbook, Nebraska is a 13-point favorite.
The Cornhuskers are coming off a disappointing season during which they were 3-9 straight up and 7-5 against the spread. They finished off last season with six straight losses and a 2-4 ATS record. Saturday’s contest is essentially a road game for both sides and on the road Nebraska has lost four straight at 2-2 ATS. When favored last season, the Cornhuskers were 3-4 SU and ATS.
Northwestern was also 3-9 SU last season and 3-9 ATS as well. The Wildcats also begin the season on a six-game losing streak with a 1-5 ATS record. On the road, Northwestern has lost six straight both SU and ATS.
Last season Nebraska destroyed Northwestern 56-7 as an 11-point favorite. In their last 12 games against the Wildcats, the Cornhuskers are 7-5 SU and 5-7 ATS.
Wolf Pack road favorites at New Mexico State
Back in America on Saturday, the Nevada Wolf Pack visit the New Mexico State Aggies as 9-point road favorites at Bovada.
Nevada was 8-5 SU and ATS last season, which included going 1-3 SU and 2-2 ATS in its last four games. On the road, the Wolf Pack are 3-5 SU and 5-3 ATS in their last eight games, but that includes winning four straight ATS. As a road favorite, Nevada has been a bad bet lately at 1-3 SU in its last four and 1-4 ATS in the last five.
New Mexico State was 2-10 SU last season, but a profitable 7-5 ATS. At home the Aggies are 5-4 SU and ATS in their last nine, but as a home underdog they’ve lost seven straight at 1-6 ATS.
Last season Nevada defeated New Mexico State 55-28 as a 28.5-point favorite. In this matchup Nevada has won four straight at 2-2 ATS, and is 8-1 SU and 5-4 ATS in the last nine.
Utah State has been solid spread bet as big fave
The largest spread on Saturday comes with the Connecticut Huskies at the Utah State Aggies where the Aggies are 27-point favorites.
Utah State was 11-3 SU and 10-4 ATS last season. That included going 8-1 SU and ATS in its last nine games. At home the Aggies have been disappointing with a 4-7 record SU and ATS in their last 11. When favored by 20 points or more, the Aggies have won 12 straight with a 9-3 ATS record.
