Las Vegas - Props to Brian Kelly and his family for committing $1 million to the Tiger Athletic Foundation to support construction of LSUs new athletic training room and recovery suite. Kellys donation is the largest by a sitting head coach in LSU history. BRAVO! Still NOT gonna win you a game. Lemme throw some numbers at you and tell you why they don't always mean squat. So, the LSU pass defense has allowed only five TDs in 137 attempts so far this season. Amazing right? On the surface, sure. But as always, we dig a little deeper. The Tigers have played five games, and the opponents, how shall we say it, have been less than. The only team with a serious offense was Mississippi State at #5. Florida State is down at #35, Auburn lags at #82 and New Mexico is a bottom feeder at #126. Oh yea, that other game, against Southern University, doesn't count because they're an FCS program. Now Tennessee comes to Baton Rouge, and brings some SERIOUS heat. The Vols have the NUMBER ONE rated offense in the country, racking up 559 yards per game, and the #2 passing offense, gobbling up 365 yards per. And finally, did we mention that Tennessee had a week off to rest and recuperate after beating Florida? Well, they did, and that's why we'll be singing 'Rocky Top' with Peyton Manning when the game is over!
