Daytona 500 Betting Odds Preview

The NASCAR Cup Series officially begins this weekend with the Great American Race, the Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway.

The oddsmakers at Bovada Sportsbook have three drivers listed as favorites at Daytona with Chase Elliott, Denny Hamlin and Ryan Blaney all at +1200 to take the checkered flag.

Among those three, Hamlin has had the most success at Daytona with three Daytona 500 wins in his career. He last won the race in 2020 and he previously won in 2019 and 2016. Including those victories, he’s finished in the top five eight times. Last year he had an early exit and finished well back in 37th place.

Elliott and Blaney are both looking for their first Daytona 500 win. Elliott, the 2020 Cup Series champion, posted his best Daytona 500 finish in 2021 when he placed second. Last year he was 10th.

Blaney has finished second in the 500 twice, in 2017 and 2020. Last year at Daytona, he was fourth. That was one of his 11 top-five finishes, but Blaney failed to win any races last year and is looking for his first checkered flag since 2021.

Cindric a +2500 underdog to become repeat winner

The winner of last year’s Daytona 500 was Austin Cindric. That was his first career Cup Series win and first of five top-five finishes he recorded last season. Cindric is a +2500 underdog to become the first repeat Daytona 500 winner since Hamlin in 2019-20.

Following the three favorites on the odds at Bovada are Joey Logano, Kyle Busch and Kyle Larson, all at +1400.

Logano, the 2022 Cup Series champ, won the Daytona 500 in 2015. He finished well back in 21st place last season and in his career has cracked the top five three times.

Kyle Busch still looking for first win at Daytona 500

The two Kyles, Busch and Larson, are both looking for their first Daytona 500 win. For the NASCAR veteran Busch, this will be his 18th Daytona 500. His best finish came in 2019 when he placed second, which is one of his three top-five finishes. Last season, he finished sixth at Daytona.

Larson’s best career finish in the Daytona 500 was placing seventh in 2016 and 2019. He had a miserable experience at Daytona last year when he finished well back in 32nd place.

Along with Cindric, Hamlin and Logano, other former Daytona 500 winners in this year’s field include 2021 winner Michael McDowell (+2500), 2018 winner Austin Dillon (+2500) and two-time winner Jimmie Johnson (+3300).
