2023 NBA Draft Betting Preview

The NBA Draft is Thursday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn where it’s a sure thing that Victor Wembanyama will be the first overall pick by the San Antonio Spurs.

Wembanyama is considered by many NBA experts to be the best draft prospect since LeBron James. That’s why he’s considered to be a lock to go first overall and on the First Overall Pick odds at the Bovada Sportsbook he’s a massive -50000 favorite.

While Wembanyama is basically guaranteed to go No. 1, the rest of the first round does have some mystery to it this year. The second pick belongs to the Charlotte Hornets. The odds on that pick have been in flux for the last week but right now you’ll find Brandon Miller as a -400 favorite. He’s followed by Scoot Henderson at +175. Just two days ago Henderson was favored over Miller so you can see how quickly the odds have been moving. If you want to take a risk, you can also get Amen Thompson at +5000 to go second overall.

Judging by the odds for the second pick, the odds for the No. 3 pick should not be that surprising. Henderson is favored to be taken third at -300, while Miller is at +150 to go No. 3. The longer shots at No. 3 including Amen Thompson at +1400 and Cam Whitmore at +2000.

Thompson twins also on NBA Draft odds board

The most interesting players to wager on in this year’s draft may be twins Amen and Ausar Thompson. The twins have been playing in the Overtime Elite League and have been receiving a range of rankings on expert mock drafts. Some have Amen going as high as fourth, while other mocks have him at seven. On the Fourth Overall Pick odds Amen is a -250 favorite.

Ausar is also getting different grades on mock drafts with some experts listing him as high as sixth and others going as low as 10th. On the Fifth Overall Pick odds he’s at +385 behind the +150 favorite Jarace Walker. On the Sixth Overall Pick odds Ausar is a +165 favorite.

You can also wager on which brother will be drafted first with Amen the favorite at -430 and Ausar the underdog at +290. Judging by the mock drafts Amen appears to be a pretty safe bet there. There are also OVER/UNDER odds for Ausar with his draft pick total set at 5.5. The OVER is favored at -400 on that wager while the UNDER comes in at +275.
