College Football Opening Weekend Odds
The college football season kicks off this weekend with two ranked teams in action, starting with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish taking on the Navy Midshipmen over in Dublin, Ireland.
At the Bovada Sportsbook Notre Dame is a 20.5-point favorite. The Fighting Irish begin the season ranked No. 13 in the nation, and last year they were 9-4 straight-up and 7-6 against the spread. That included going 6-1 SU and 4-3 ATS in their last seven games. For totals bettors the Fighting Irish were a profitable OVER wager late last year with seven straight OVER results to close out the season.
The Midshipmen were a disappointing 4-8 SU and 7-5 ATS last season, including going 3-1 ATS in their final four games. Away from home the Midshipmen have been a solid bet with six straight wins ATS, and as an underdog they’re 7-1 ATS in their last eight.
Last season Notre Dame edged Navy 35-32 as 17-point favorites. The Fighting Irish have won five straight games versus the Midshipmen at 2-3 ATS, and in their last 10 matchups Notre Dame is 9-1 SU and 4-6 ATS.
USC set as heavy favorite facing San Jose State
The other ranked team in action this weekend is the No. 6 USC Trojans, as they host the San Jose State Spartans as 30.5-point favorites.
USC went 11-3 SU and 8-6 ATS last season, which included finishing the season with two straight losses both SU and ATS. At home the Trojans have won seven straight at 5-2 ATS, and for totals bettors they’re 11-2 on the OVER in their last 13 games at home.
San Jose State was 7-5 SU and 4-8 ATS last season. The Spartans finished the season with seven straight losses ATS, and as an underdog they have lost eight straight with a 3-5 ATS record.
The Trojans are 5-0 SU and 3-2 in their last five games versus the Spartans. They last met in 2021 when USC easily won 30-7 as 14-point favorites.
Hawaii the underdog on Saturday facing Vanderbilt
Also on the schedule this weekend, the Hawaii Warriors visit the Vanderbilt Commodores as 17.5-point underdogs.
Vanderbilt was 5-7 SU and ATS last season. At home they’re 2-7 SU and 3-6 ATS in their last nine games, and when favored they’re 7-3 SU and 4-6 ATS in their last 10 games.
Hawaii was 3-10 SU and 9-4 ATS last season. They’ve won three straight ATS and seven of their last eight games ATS. On the road the Warriors have lost six straight games with a 4-2 ATS record.
Last season Vanderbilt defeated Hawaii by a score of 63-10 as 9-point favorites at sportsbooks.
