ohio state

Las Vegas - Gotta let you in on a little secret. Bought a ticket back in August on Ohio State to win the National Championship and will obviously be rooting for the Buckeyes to cash. Will that cloud my handicap on the Cotton Bowl tonight? Maybe. So, I'll give you some numbers and then you can decide. First we gotta talk about the QBs, Quinn Ewers and Will Howard. Ewers started his career at Ohio State before transferring to Texas. And Howard played at Kansas State in the Big 12 against the Longhorns for four years and came up short, 0-4, each time. Obviously, Howard has a superior team with WAY more talent than he had with the Wildcats. If you look at the last two games, against two really good teams, Oregon and Tennessee, Howard and the Buckeyes were MONEY! They scored 42 against the Vols and 41 against the Ducks. Howard was crazy good in both games. He completed 24 of 29, a STUNNING 82.8%, for 311 yards and 2 TDs against Tennessee. Then he went 17 of 26 (65.4%) for 319 yards and 3 TDs against Oregon. His two main targets, Jeremiah Smith and Emeka Egbuka, are virtually impossible to stop. Smith had 103 yards and 2 TDs against the Volunteers and 187 yards with 2 TDs against the Ducks. Texas had a couple of nice wins on the way to the Cotton Bowl, but they gave up 24 points to Clemson and 31 to Arizona State before winning in double OT. So, the Buckeyes are GONNA score and GONNA win. Just not thrilled about laying six points. Would not be opposed to suggesting State on the money line. I'll just hold my ticket on the Buckeyes really tight and keep an eye on the weather. The temps could be around freezing and while Ohio State knows a little something about cold weather, Texas has played two of its last three games inside the comfy climate-controlled Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
Also gonna skate out to Motown, take a few bucks from the wallet and buy a ticket on the Red Wings to beat the Blackhawks tonight.
