pitt and army

Las Vegas - It does not get anymore red, white & blue than Air Force vs. Army. Well, maybe not quite the spectacle of the Army/Navy game, but real close. Anytime the service academies get on the field, it's a great day. And as long QB Bryson Daily is on the field for Army, it should a GREAT day for the Cadets. Daily is a true dual threat QB, and while the passing game is never the main focus, he did hit on 7 of 10 (70%) for 147 yards against East Carolina in the last game. But it's his LEGS where the magic starts. Bryson ran for 171 yards against the Pirates in that game and is on pace for an ENORMOUS season. Last year, he had 215 runs for 901 yards, and this season, he is already sitting at 909 yards on just 138 carries. That's a 6.6 average per rush and oh yea, how about SIXTEEN TDs on the ground for this kid. However, we're thinking that if the Knights get up really big, they'll just call off the dogs so they don't embarrass the Air Force. After all, they have to work together in a few years. Takin' plus 22 to the bank for a small deposit.
Looking at the Pittsburgh/SMU game and there were a bunch of IFs in the middle of the week! Pitt QB Eli Holstein got hurt in the 4th quarter of the game against Syracuse last week. But coach Pat Narduzzi just announced that Holstein will get the start. And it looks like SMU will be starting Kevin Jennings at QB according to coach Rhett Lashlee. However, the Mustangs had SIX turnovers, three INTs and three fumbles lost. They needed a score in OT and a missed 2-point try to squeeze out a 28-27 win over Duke. If they are not careful with the ball against the Panthers, it could be a long day. And since Pitt has covered six of seven (86%) this season, my wallet is open for the visitors.
