Zach Edey scored 24 points and added 12 rebounds for a double-double, leading Purdue over West Virginia, 80-68, on Thursday at Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

Purdue won and also put money in the pockets of their supporters by covering the -1.5-point spread as favorites.

Mason Gillis had 14 points for Purdue and Braden Smith chipped in with 9 points. Ethan Morton had 9 assists for them, while Zach Edey was the team's top rebounder, grabbing 12 boards.

West Virginia got 17 points from Erik Stevenson in a losing cause and another 16 points from Joe Toussaint. Joe Toussaint contributed 4 assists for them, while Jimmy Bell Jr. had 5 rebounds.

First-half bettors who backed Purdue were victorious, as the score was 43-33 at the break.

Purdue had a 33-24 advantage in the rebounding department as they won the battle in the paint.
