Simas Lukosius scored 14 points leading Cincinnati to a 68-65 victory over Xavier at Fifth Third Arena on Saturday.
Cincinnati won on the scoreboard, but lost at the pay window as they failed to cover the -8.0-point spread.
Cincinnati got 12 points from Aziz Bandaogo and another 11 points from Dillon Mitchell. Jizzle James contributed 5 assists, while Dillon Mitchell cleaned the glass with 10 rebounds.
Xavier got a 18-point performance from Zach Freemantle, who was supported by 17 points from Ryan Conwell. Dayvion McKnight had 9 assists in a losing cause for Xavier, while Jerome Hunter grabbed 8 rebounds.
Cincinnati won the battle of the boards, outrebounding their counterparts 34-33.
Next game, Cincinnati takes its act home to face Dayton looking for another win. For Xavier, they head on the road to face Connecticut.
