Yale Defeats Cornell 92-88 - Recap

Yale got 24 points and 11 rebounds from Nick Townsend en route to a 92-88 victory over Cornell on Friday at John J. Lee Amphitheater.

Yale won the battle on the scoreboard, but not at the payout window as they failed to cover the -11.5-point spread.

Yale got 21 points from Casey Simmons and another 14 points from Bez Mbeng. Bez Mbeng contributed 8 assists, while Nick Townsend cleaned the glass with 11 rebounds.

Cornell got 30 points from AK Okereke in a losing cause and another 23 points from Jake Fiegen. AK Okereke contributed 7 assists for them, while Guy Ragland Jr. had 7 rebounds.

First-half bettors who backed Cornell were victorious, as the score was 42-38 at the break.

Cornell had a 37-33 advantage in the rebounding department as they won the battle in the paint.

Next game, Yale takes its act home to face Columbia looking for another win. For Cornell, they head on the road to face Brown.
