Butler got 24 points from Jahmyl Telfort as they ran past Providence 82-81 on Saturday at Hinkle Fieldhouse.
Butler won the battle on the scoreboard, but not at the payout window as they failed to cover the -4.5-point spread.
Butler got 18 points from Pierre Brooks II and another 15 points from Finley Bizjack. Patrick McCaffery contributed 4 assists, while Andre Screen cleaned the glass with 10 rebounds.
