Akron Zips vs Western Michigan Broncos Wrap - Western Michigan Wins 45-40
Sean Tyler tore up the turf for 147 rushing yards on Tuesday to lead the Broncos to a 45-40 win over the Zips at Waldo Stadium.
Western Michigan did not, however, defeat the Zips against the spread, which closed at -26.0 at most sportsbooks. Totals bettors, meanwhile, saw the game go OVER the closing number of 62.0.
Sean Tyler rushed for 147 yards, while La'Darius Jefferson added 99 yards in the win. Corey Crooms and Jaylen Hall added 73 and 64 receiving yards respectively.
Jonzell Norrils rushed for 58 yards for Akron, while Zach Gibson added 27 yards. Zach Gibson threw for 305 yards for the Zips, while receivers Konata Mumpfield and Michael Mathison had 122 and 112 yards respectively.
Akron was outgained by Western Michigan 533-391 yards in Tuesday's match, while the important battle of first downs was won 30-25 by the Broncos.
Western Michigan lost the time of possession battle 32:20-27:40, leaving their defense on the field more than they wanted.
Next game, Western Michigan takes its act on the road to face Eastern Michigan looking for another win. For Akron, they head home to face Kent State.
