WKU Hilltoppers vs UTEP Miners Wrap - WKU Wins 21-13
Elijah Young ran for 139 yards as WKU handled UTEP by a score of 21-13 on Saturday at Sun Bowl.
WKU did not, however, defeat the Miners against the spread, which closed at -9.5 at most sportsbooks. Totals bettors, meanwhile, saw the game go UNDER the closing number of 54.0.
Elijah Young rushed for 139 yards, while Davion Ervin-Poindexter added 27 yards in the win. L.T. Sanders and Jimmy Holiday added 36 and 33 receiving yards respectively.
Torrance Burgess Jr. rushed for 86 yards for UTEP, while Deion Hankins added 67 yards. Cade McConnell threw for 214 yards for the Miners, while receivers Kelly Akharaiyi and Jeremiah Ballard had 141 and 30 yards respectively.
UTEP outgained WKU 368-280 yards in the game, while the battle of first downs was won 19-11 by the Miners.
The time of possession battle favored UTEP as their offense was on the field for 33:10, longer than the 26:50 of their opponents.
WKU heads into a 11 battle against New Mexico State. UTEP, meanwhile, will have their next action against Middle Tennessee.
