Hawaii Falls 16-13 to Bruins - Recap
Rico Flores Jr. inflicted damage on the Hawaii secondary, receiving 102 yards as UCLA defeated the Rainbow Warriors 16-13 at Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex.
The Bruins earned a straight-up victory but suffered an ATS defeat in failing to cover the -13.5-point spread. Over-Under bettors who played UNDER the total of 52.0 were rewarded with a winning wager.
Ethan Garbers rushed for 47 yards, while Keegan Jones added 13 yards in the win. Rico Flores Jr. and Moliki Matavao added 102 and 42 receiving yards respectively.
Lucas Borrow rushed for 19 yards for Hawaii, while Christian Vaughn added 16 yards. Brayden Schager threw for 227 yards for the Rainbow Warriors, while receivers Pofele Ashlock and Nick Cenacle had 112 and 35 yards respectively.
Hawaii was outgained by UCLA 343-278 yards in Saturday's match, while the important battle of first downs was won 19-18 by the Bruins.
The time of possession battle favored Hawaii as their offense was on the field for 32:26, longer than the 27:34 of their opponents.
Next game, UCLA takes its act home to face Indiana looking for another win. For Hawaii, they head on the road to face Sam Houston State.
