Mustangs Fall 18-15 Against BYU - Game Recap

The Cougars were Week 2 winners on Friday, coming out on top of the Mustangs by a score of 18-15 at Gerald J. Ford Stadium.

The Cougars were a +12.0-point underdog in the win, and managed to turn a profit for their supporters. The combined score dipped UNDER the total, which closed at 55.5.

Miles Davis rushed for 37 yards, while Jake Retzlaff added 35 yards in the win. Darius Lassiter and Mata'ava Ta'ase added 62 and 42 receiving yards respectively.

Brashard Smith rushed for 75 yards for SMU, while Kevin Jennings added 38 yards. Preston Stone threw for 4 yards for the Mustangs, while receivers Key'Shawn Smith and Jake Bailey had 46 and 34 yards respectively.

SMU lost the offensive yardage battle to BYU 336-261 yards in Friday's game. SMU had more first downs as that total ended up 18-16.

The time of possession battle favored BYU as their offense was on the field for 30:53, longer than the 29:07 of their opponents.

Next game, BYU takes its act on the road to face Wyoming looking for another win. For SMU, they head home to face TCU.
