WKU Hilltoppers vs Sam Houston State Bearkats Recap - Hilltoppers Win 31-14
The Bearkats came up short against the Hilltoppers in Week 8 action on Wednesday, falling 31-14 at Elliot T. Bowers Stadium.
WKU won and also put money in the pockets of their supporters by covering the +1.5-point spread as underdogs. Totals bettors, meanwhile, saw the game go UNDER the closing number of 55.0.
Elijah Young rushed for 97 yards, while Caden Veltkamp added 27 yards in the win. K.D. Hutchinson and Elijah Young added 88 and 61 receiving yards respectively.
DJ McKinney rushed for 45 yards for Sam Houston State, while Jase Bauer added 41 yards. Hunter Watson threw for 128 yards for the Bearkats, while receivers Simeon Evans and Michael Phoenix II had 59 and 56 yards respectively.
WKU outgained Sam Houston State 411-400 yards in the game, while the battle of first downs was won 23-22 by the Hilltoppers.
WKU lost the time of possession battle 30:15-29:45, leaving their defense on the field more than they wanted.
