Green Wave vs Owls Final: 24-10 - Recap
Rice was unable to contain Makhi Hughes on Saturday and the result was a 24-10 Week 8 loss against the Green Wave.
The Green Wave earned a straight-up victory but suffered an ATS defeat in failing to cover the -21.5-point spread. Over-Under bettors who played UNDER the total of 54.5 were rewarded with a winning wager.
Makhi Hughes rushed for 140 yards, while Arnold Barnes III added 15 yards in the win. Dontae Fleming and Yulkeith Brown added 36 and 34 receiving yards respectively.
Dean Connors rushed for 76 yards for Rice, while Drayden Dickmann added 4 yards. E.J. Warner threw for 271 yards for the Owls, while receivers Kobie Campbell and Matt Sykes had 100 and 74 yards respectively.
Tulane was outgained by Rice 344-306 yards in Saturday's match, while the important battle of first downs was won 18-16 by the Green Wave.
The time of possession battle favored Tulane as their offense was on the field for 34:57, longer than the 25:03 of their opponents.
Tulane looks to continue their winning ways next game with a battle against North Texas. Rice will aim to get back on the winning track at UCONN.
