tb12 thumb
Las Vegas - Not just any thumb, it's the RIGHT THUMB! TB12's right thumb. So, if you're Bruce Arians, do you sit Tommy Terrific and let the thumb get two weeks rest before facing the Bears on October 24? Or do you start Brady and roll the dice? Whew, tough one. Which makes the handicap tough as well. Normally, we would just phone in a bet on Tampa without even thinking, but with the thumb, this is anything but normal. Of course, TB12 downplayed it and said, "You play a game and you get hit and you deal with different bumps and bruises over the course of the year. It's just that this bump and bruise just happens to be on my hand." With his history in New England of keeping things secret, or just not giving the full story, we remain a wee bit skeptical. However, the thumb was injured in the 2nd quarter against the Dolphins, and Brady still passed for 411 yards with 5 TDs. He also leads the league with 1,767 yards passing, completions with 149 and 225 attempts. Putting the thumb aside for the moment, do you really wanna put a portion of your bank on Jalen Hurts? Do you really wanna put your cash on a team that has the QB (Hurts) as the leading rusher? Tough questions, no easy answers. Of course, if we see TB12 holding the clipboard and either Blaine Gabbert or Kyle Trask stepping in under center, we roll with the Igles plus the points. If Brady gets the first snap, we put on our Pirate costume and buy the Bucs.
On to the West coast for a delicious game five in the Dodgers/Giants series. It'll be Logan Webb against Julio Urias. Webb was lights out against L.A. in the opener, throwing seven innings worth of bagels and posting 10 Ks. Not a huge surprise because he has been tough on the Dodgers all season. In his four starts against Los Angeles, Webb has allowed only four earned runs over 23 innings for a skinny 1.57 ERA. Throw in 27 Ks and you can see that this is gonna be a tough matchup for the Dodgers. On the other side of the puzzle, Urias AIN'T chopped liver, and he is my FAVORITE to win the N.L. Cy. His numbers are totally ridonkulous, with a 20-3 record and a 2.96 ERA. Julio was solid against San Francisco this season, winning two of three with two no decisions. He threw 28 innings at the Giants and allowed 11 earned runs for a 3.54 ERA. Not gonna make a play on the game, but PLZ check the game time weather. If it's cold, nasty and windy in San Fran, then we would rock the total and go UNDER 7 runs. Calm & clear sunny skies means a pass.
