Las Vegas - Making a stop in La La Land to look at the UCLA/Washington State game. Couple of interesting factors at work in the contest. As everyone knows, the Pac 12 will be history next season, and Washington State is one of two teams, the other is Oregon State, that does not have a new conference affiliation just yet. So, the Cougars from Pullman have a gigantic chip on their shoulder, which is one of the reasons that they've started the season with a 4-0 PERFECTO, 3-0 against the spread. The other reason, and the most important, is QB Cam Ward. For those that don't stay up late enough to catch Wazzu, lemme give you some numbers. This is Ward's second season in Pullman, and he has been OFF THE CHARTS. He has hit on 105 of 141 passes (75%) for 1,389 yards, with 13 TDs and ZERO INTs. State's offensive coordinator, Ben Arbuckle, guided Western Kentucky last season, and they were the #7 offense in the country. If you're looking at UCLA's defensive numbers, take a step back. Yea the Bruins D is number one in the Pac 12, allowing 11 points per game, but just look who they've played. Coastal Carolina, so what, San Diego State, a terrible team, NC Central, an FCS squad, and a Utah team that had to go with a backup QB, Nate Johnson, NOT Cam Rising. So, we advise you NOT to take those defensive stats too seriously. Gimme the kids from Pullman for the money.

Turning the page to MLB, gonna roll with the Orioles over the Rangers in the opener as long as Kyle Bradish takes the mound for Baltimore. Bradish has NOT given up an earned run in his last three outings, gobbling up 18 innings worth of bagels. We were still waiting for Texas to decide between Dane Dunning and Andrew Heaney, but we DON'T care. As long as Bradish toes the rubber, we're on the Baltimore Birds.

Checking in on the Red River Shootout and we can tell you that Brent Venables has the Sooners rocking in his second year, and they come to Dallas with a 5-0 spread PERFECTO. Texas comes in with a spotless 5-0 straight up record and has covered three of five. Just in case you forgot, there might be a little revenge on the table since the 'Horns obliterated the Sooners last year, 49-0.
