Chiefs Favored Over Broncos Thursday Night

Week 2 of the NFL season gets underway on Thursday with a battle between AFC West division rivals when the Denver Broncos meet up with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Both Denver and Kansas City started the season with a win last week, but both came out of their victories looking to improve.

The Broncos defeated Baltimore 19-13 as a 4.5-point favorite despite their offense failing to find the end zone. Peyton Manning looked like age was catching up with him fast as he completed just 24 of 40 passes for 175 yards with an interception.

The Denver ground game wasn’t much better, as C.J. Anderson and Ronnie Hillman combined for 70 yards on 24 carries. The Denver defense delivered though, holding the Ravens to only 173 yards, while Aqib Talib took an interception 51 yards for a touchdown.

The Chiefs came out firing last week against Houston and hung on to win 27-20 as a 1-point road favorite. Kansas City led 27-6 at the half, but were shut out in the final two quarters.

Alex Smith looked good in the win, completing 23 of 33 passes for 243 yards and three touchdowns. Jamaal Charles ran for 57 yards and caught five passes for 46 yards including a score. Travis Kelce was the star for the Chiefs, with six catches for 106 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

The Broncos head into Thursday night riding a six-game winning streak versus the Chiefs, during which they are 4-2 ATS. In both matchups last season the home team was favored, but failed to cover both times.

Denver is also 5-1 SU and ATS in their last six trips to Kansas City, and in their last three as a road underdog they are 3-0 SU and 2-1 ATS.
