College football shakeup in advance of Week 7 odds slate

It was tough to be one of the top-ranked college football teams in the nation last week with numerous upsets that have completely changed the face of the AP Top 25. Anyone betting favorites also took a beating last week on the 5Dimes closing betting odds at the online sportsbooks.

Florida State remains at the top of the list at No. 1 with a 5-0 start, but it has a familiar foe breathing down its neck with Auburn claiming the No. 2 spot in the poll. These two met last season in the BCS title game. The Seminoles have been opened by 5Dimes as 23-point road favorites against Syracuse for this upcoming Saturday in an ACC tilt, and the Tigers are favored by 2.5 points on the road in a huge SEC showdown against No. 3 Mississippi State.

The Ole Miss Rebels stunned Alabama last Saturday 23-17 as 4.5-point road favorites to join their in-state rivals at No. 3 in the latest AP poll. They will now go on the road to square off against No. 14 Texas A&M as 3-point underdogs in another big matchup in the SEC.

Baylor now occupies the No. 5 spot on the list at 5-0 on the year. The Bears will face No. 9 TCU this Saturday as 11-point home favorites in a Big 12 clash, but you might want to be a bit wary of that spread. The Horned Frogs closed as 3.5-point home underdogs this past Saturday and pulled off a stunning 37-33 upset over Oklahoma.

There are a number of interesting divisional showdowns in the NFL this week starting with Indianapolis on the road against Houston as a 2.5-point favorite this Thursday night in a battle for first place in the AFC South. The total line for this game has been set by 5Dimes at 46 points.

A pair of teams looking to get back into the thick of their respective division races square off against one another in a late Sunday afternoon start when the 2-3 Chicago Bears head to the Georgia Dome to face the 2-3 Atlanta Falcons. The Bears blew a late-game lead over Carolina last Sunday to lose 31-24 as 2.5-point underdogs on the road, while Atlanta lost to the Giants 30-20 as 4-point road underdogs. The Falcons have been opened as 3-point home favorites over Chicago with the total set at 53.5.
