Eagles and the Colts set to light it up on Monday night

Sports bettors get a good one to handicap this Monday night as the Philadelphia Eagles travel to Lucas Oil Stadium to face off against the Indianapolis Colts. Bovada has set the NFL betting odds for this inter-conference clash with Indianapolis favored by 3 points at home. The total has been set at 54 points.

Philadelphia opened the season as a heavy 10-point home favorite against Jacksonville and for the first two quarters of the new season it appeared that a major upset was in the making. The Jaguars jumped out to a 17-0 lead by halftime as everything that could go wrong for the home team did. The Eagles quickly returned to the form that accounted for 10 wins last season with 34 unanswered points to not only cover the spread but also take the game OVER the 49-point closing line.

The Colts had the unenviable task of going into Denver to square off against Peyton Manning and the high-flying Broncos in their season opener as 8.5-point underdogs. Things went according to plan with Denver building a comfortable 21-point lead early in the fourth quarter, but a late-game rally cut the deficit to just seven points to give Indy the cover against the spread. The total in this game went OVER Bovada’s closing 53.5-point betting line.

The Eagles have been a good bet on the road lately with a 4-2 record ATS in their last six road games. They won five of those contests SU as part of a 6-2 SU record on the road in 2013. The total has gone OVER in four of their last six games overall and it has also gone OVER in seven of their last nine games on the road.

Indianapolis has been rock-solid at home the past few seasons with a 13-2 SU record in 15 games. It has been profitable as well with a 6-1 record ATS in its last seven home games. The Colts have also been a solid bet on the total line with nine of their last 13 games going OVER the closing line.

The last time these two teams met was in 2010 with Philadelphia coming away with a 26-24 victory as a 3.5-point home favorite. Indianapolis is a perfect 5-0 ATS in the last five meetings and in each game the total went OVER the closing betting odds.
