NFL Preseason Betting Action Continues at Books

The first full week of NFL preseason betting action is in the books, and while some rust was pretty evident in many of the games the level of play should improve as the teams head into Week 2’s slate.

Things get underway on Thursday night with a nationally broadcast clash between Jacksonville and Chicago. The Jaguars hammered out a 16-10 victory over Tampa Bay in their preseason opener as 2.5-point home favorites on the Bovada closing NFL betting odds.

The Bears won a 34-28 shootout against Philadelphia as 1.5-point home favorites this past Friday night. The total in that game easily went OVER the 41-point closing line. The opening betting odds for this Thursday’s game have yet to be set, but look for 5Dimes to open the Bears as favorites at home.

San Diego will be on the road at Seattle on Friday night after beating Dallas 27-7 last week as a 4-point home favorite. The defending Super Bowl champion Seahawks lost to Denver this time around 21-16 as 1-point road favorites in a rematch of Super Bowl XLVIII.

There are eight NFL preseason games scheduled for Saturday starting with Green Bay on the road against St. Louis. The Packers have been listed by 5Dimes as +665 third-favorites to win the NFC this season, and quarterback Aaron Rodgers has the third-best NFL betting odds (+650) to throw for the most yards this season.

Sunday’s NFL preseason action features a pair of games. The Broncos will square off against San Francisco at the brand new Levi Stadium in a battle between two of the top Super Bowl favorites on the 5Dimes NFL futures odds, followed by Kansas City at Carolina.

Week 2 will wrap up on Monday night with Washington playing host to Cleveland.

MLB action continues to heat up with a couple of huge showdowns this week. The New York Yankees will try and make up some ground in the AL East when they face the division-leading Baltimore Orioles for three games starting on Monday night.

The Yankees are six games back of the Orioles in the division, and 5Dimes has opened them as +129 road underdogs for Game 1.

An important series in the National League playoff race has the Los Angeles Dodgers on the road this week against Atlanta for four games starting this Monday night. The Dodgers’ lead over San Francisco in the NL West stands at 4.5 games, while the Braves are 3.5 games back of Washington in the NL East.
