PGA Betting: Charles Schwab Challenge Odds
Following a thrilling and shocking second major of the season, the PGA heads to the Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas, this week for the Charles Schwab Challenge.
Bettors could have cashed in last week in the PGA Championship after Phil Mickelson became the oldest major winner in PGA Tour history at 50 years old. Mickelson entered the tournament as a +12500 long shot at Bovada Sportsbook before claiming his sixth major title.
Mickelson is among the field this week and has won this tournament twice previously, in 2000 and 2008. At Bovada this week, he is a +5000 underdog to make it consecutive wins.
Spieth, Thomas co-favorites to win Charles Schwab Challenge
The co-favorites at Bovada this week are Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas at +1000. Last week in the PGA Championship, Spieth tied for 30th and failed to crack the top 10 for only the third time in his last nine tournaments. Spieth won the Charles Schwab Challenge in 2016 and finished second in 2015 and 2017.
Thomas is coming off a disappointing showing at the PGA Championship after missing the cut. He has now failed to finish in the top 10 in four straight tournaments since posting his first win of the season at the Players Championship in mid-March.
Following Spieth and Thomas on the odds list at Bovada are Collin Morikawa at +1400 and Abraham Ancer and Daniel Berger at +1800.
Berger topped Morikawa in playoff to win 2020 tournament
Berger is the defending champion of this event. Last year he defeated Morikawa in a playoff to record what was at the time his third career PGA Tour win. He added a fourth win earlier this year at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
Ancer may be worth taking a flyer on at +1800. Last week he tied for eighth place at the PGA Championship. That was his third straight top-10 finish following a second place in the Wells Fargo Championship and a fifth place at the Valspar Championship. You can also get Ancer on Bovada’s top-10 finish prop at +150.
Along with Mickelson, Spieth and Berger, there are several other former Charles Schwab winners in this week’s field. They are 2019 winner Kevin Na (+6600), 2018 winner Justin Rose (+3300), 2017 winner Kevin Kisner (+10000), 2015 winner Chris Kirk (+6000), two-time winner Zach Johnson (+15000) and 2001 winner Sergio Garcia (+6600).
