Sports Betting Weekend: NBA the Highlight

The weekend schedule is packed with playoff matchups, as the postseason continues in the NHL and the NBA.

There are three games on tap in the NBA on Friday night and in all three series a team has a 2-0 lead. On deck are the Cleveland Cavaliers at the Detroit Pistons, the Atlanta Hawks at the Boston Celtics, and the San Antonio Spurs at the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Cavaliers, Hawks and Spurs all won and covered last time out and none of those games were even close. Cleveland defeated Detroit 107-90 as an 11-point favorite, Atlanta rolled over Boston 89-72 as a 6.5-point favorite, and San Antonio destroyed Memphis 94-65 as 17.5-point chalk at online sportsbook Bovada.

Looking ahead to Saturday there are four more games on tap, but we’ll focus on two, the Miami Heat at the Charlotte Hornets, and the Los Angeles Clippers at the Portland Trail Blazers. The Heat and Clippers both hold a 2-0 series lead. The Clippers have won five straight against the Blazers with a 4-1 record against the spread.

In the NHL this weekend Friday night has four games on the schedule, including three possible elimination games. The three series that could come to an end are the Philadelphia Flyers versus the Washington Capitals, the Minnesota Wild versus the Dallas Stars, and the San Jose Sharks versus the Los Angeles Kings.

The Flyers avoided elimination on Wednesday night, but they’ll be a heavy underdog with the series returning to Washington. Dallas also heads home where they have won four of their last five against Minnesota and eight straight overall. The Sharks are looking to knock out the Kings in Los Angeles, which looks promising considering San Jose has won four straight in Los Angeles.

The weekend baseball series getting highlighted is an NL West showdown between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Colorado Rockies. The Dodgers were 11-8 against the Rockies last season, but in Colorado the Rockies have won four straight and five of their last six against Los Angeles.
