TNF Betting Preview: Dolphins at Bengals

The Miami Dolphins reeled off their first win of the season last week, and they’ll go for back-to-back wins for the first time in nearly a year when they face the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday Night Football.

The Dolphins were a 9.5-point favorite last week against the Cleveland Browns and needed overtime to post a 30-24 win. Running back Jay Ajayi ran in the winning touchdown from 11 yards out to cement the victory.

Against Cleveland quarterback Ryan Tannehill passed for 319 yards with three touchdowns and a pair of interceptions. Jarvis Landry led Miami with seven receptions for 120 yards a TD.

With Arian Foster sidelined by injury Ajayi, Kenyan Drake and Isaiah Pead split the carries and combined for 82 yards with the lone touchdown. The latest news on Foster lists him as out again for Week 4, which would likely mean another game of running back by committee for Miami. Joining him on the sidelines will be tight end Jordan Cameron, who is out with a concussion.

The Bengals were a 3.5-point favorite last week, but couldn’t get it done in a 29-17 loss to the Denver Broncos. Andy Dalton threw for 206 yards with an interception and running back Jeremy Hill provided the points with two touchdowns and 97 yards on 17 carries.

At online sportsbook Bovada the Bengals are listed as a 7.5-point home favorite this week.

Even with last week’s win the Dolphins are only 3-7 straight up and 2-8 against the spread in their last 10 games. On the road Miami has lost four in a row SU with a 1-3 ATS record. Over their last seven road games the Dolphins are 1-6 SU and 2-5 ATS.

With their 1-2 SU and 0-2-1 ATS start to the season Cincinnati is 2-3 SU and 0-3-2 ATS in their last five games. Home-field advantage hasn’t helped much either, with the Bengals sporting a 2-4 SU record and 1-4-1 ATS mark in their last six games at home. When they’re listed as the home favorite Cincinnati is only 2-3 SU and 1-4 ATS in their last five.

Miami has won their last three against Cincinnati both SU and ATS. That dominance extends further as the Dolphins are 11-2 SU in their last 13 versus the Bengals and 9-2 ATS in their last 11. They also own a 7-1 record both SU and ATS in their last eight games in Cincinnati.
