hat trick
----------------------------------------------------
Las Vegas - Gonna go for the hat trick on the college board and start with Texas vs. Arkansas. The 'Horns fly to Fayetteville with an 8-1 record, a stingy defense and an explosive offense. The D is allowing just 12 points per game, while the O is off the charts, scoring an average of 38.9 ppg. And most of the offensive explosion comes from Heisman Trophy candidate, QB Quinn Ewers. Since Ewers missed a couple of games, his Heisman odds have dropped, but MAN can this kid hummmmm. Last week, he was 19 of 27 for 333 yards with FIVE TDs and 0 INTs. Those numbers are spectacular but you also need to know that the 'Horns have a special rushing attack that gobbled up 210 yards against Florida.
Arkansas coach Pittman compared his team to a Walmart Blue Light Special and called the Ole Miss players the Louis Vuitton guys. If Mississippi is Vuitton, then Texas is GUCCI! Gimme Gucci baabbbeee!
Then we're off to Ames for a look at Cincinnati vs. Iowa State. LEGOmetrics for you as it relates to Cincinnati's 5-4 record. That 5-4 sounds okay and one more win will make Cincy bowl eligible, but that could be a problem. After this week's matchup, they go to Kansas State (7-2), one of the best the Big 12 has to offer and the #16 team in the College Football Playoff Rankings. Then they close out the season with TCU (6-4) at home. So 5-4 could easily turn into 5-7. And Cincy's 5-4 record has been built with wins over Towson (5-5), Miami-Ohio (5-4), Houston (4-5), UCF (4-6) and Arizona State (7-2). Not exactly the cream of the college football world.
Close out the day in Provo for a battle between Kansas and BYU. Hmmmmm. So, you're looking at this game and notice that BYU, a perfect 9-0, the #7 team in the AP Top 25 and the #9 team in the College Football Playoff Rankings is at home and ONLY -2.5 points over Kansas. A Kansas team that is kinda ugly at 3-6 and not ranked anywhere. WHAT? Gotta read the tea leaves. More LEGOmetrics where we break down BYU's perfect 9-0 record. Six of the nine wins came against teams with losing records and they were lucky to squeeze past Utah last week, 22-21. The Cougars got a gift defensive holding call after Utah sacked their QB. The call was so questionable that the Utah AD Mark Harlan busted into the post game presser and said, “I’ve been an athletic director for 12 years. This game was absolutely stolen from us.” That cost him $40 large! YIKES!
Like all three games straight up, but if you also wanted to put 'em in a three team 10-point teaser, go ahead. You'll get Texas at -2 points which is an early Christmas gift. Iowa State at +2.5 or +3 depending on where you shop and Kansas at +13. This will be the BIGGEST BET of the day. Enjoy your new bank balance.
