max

Las Vegas - Which Max do we get? That's the only question. If it's the Scherzer that won back-to-back Cy Youngs in 2016 and 2017, then we're ALL over Washington. But, if it's the Mad Max that posted a 2-2 record with a 4.74 ERA after missing almost six weeks, then all bets are off. Scherzer missed a month and a change due to a back injury, and really has not been the same pitcher since returning. He hasn't gone more than 6 innings, and been roughed up for a very un-Scherzer like 36 hits in 38 innings. On the other side, it looks like the Brewers will go with an opener, Brandon Woodruff, then rely on their bullpen. Woodruff also missed a chunk of the season with an oblique strain. He was 11-3 before going down after a July 21 start, and has had two outings of 2 innings each since coming back. And he did throw bagels in those starts allowing no hits and no earned runs. Actually, there's another YUGE question? How does Milwaukee respond without its BEST player? Christian Yelich was the 2018 NL MVP and his 2019 numbers before getting hurt, .329/.429/.671, with 44 homers, 97 RBI and 30 steals, were even BETTER! The Brew Crew took four of six in the season series, but the Nationals were on FIRE down the stretch, closing with an 8-0 PERFECTO at home. Actually, these Nats were on FIRE since May 24, when they had a 19-31 record. They rocked the rest of the season, going 74-38, and finishing with a 93-69 record. Too much momentum, too much Max, and NO Yelich puts me and my cash on the kids from D.C.
