Las Vegas - Got a few thoughts on today's MLB card. Looking out West at the Giants in the game that Blake Snell starts. Snell was awful in the first half of the season, but to be fair, he was also hurt. However, his last three starts remind us why he won the Cy Young Award. Blake has started three times in July, throwing 18 innings and allowing only 2 earned runs which translates to a gorgeous 1.00 ERA. Another however. There are rumors that Snell is attracting offers from a number of teams, and could be traded before he steps on the mound.
If Snell isn't our guy, we also like Brandon Pfaadt and the Diamondbacks over the Pirates. If you looked at Pfaadt's 4-6 record, you're probably saying Eck, has the 107 degree temperature in Vegas melted your brain. Well, kinda, but bear with me for a look at some numbers. Brandon has not lost a game since June and has allowed just one teeny tiny earned run over the last 17 innings. Toss in 17 Ks and the Bank of Benj is wide open in Phoenix.
Also don't forget our hoops pick.
Gonna hoop it up in Paris at the Olympics and grab Greece +7.5 points over Canada as they begin the quest for the gold medal. Took a look at the last six games that Greece played, and they have pitched a SIX & OH perfecto. They beat the Czech Republic 72-64, the Netherlands 74-72, the Dominican Republic 109-82, Egypt 93-71, Slovenia 96-68 and Croatia 80-69. Dead solid perfect. Thank you Dan Jenkins. Canada has been perfect as well on the way to Paris, beating the USA 86-72, France 85-73 and Puerto Rico 103-93. Well done by Team Canada but those three teams did not have something Greece has. Yea, Giannis Antetokounmpo. Canada is much deeper than Greece but anytime we can grab Giannis PLUS 7.5, it's a buy.
