Las Vegas - Yea Portland was 7-2 in the bubble restart. Yea Damian Lillard is phenomenal. Yea the Lakers looked ugly with a 3-5 mark. Of course, there is a however. However, the Blazers were fighting for their playoff lives while the Purple & Gold were pretty much locked in with the #1 seed.
So now it's GO-time and that's when the greats get really GREAT. And LeBron is obviously on the NBA's Mount Rushmore. If you have a problem with that, yell at me. And just like another bust on Rushmore, Air Jordan, King James needs a foil, a villain or something that will stir his juices. With a bunch of media predicting that this will be a tough series for the Lakers, and that Portland could spring the upset, LeBron has what he needs. I mean, C'MON, the King took the 2006/2007 Cleveland Cavaliers team to the Finals, and if you can name two guys on that squad, drinks ON ME! Name three guys, WITHOUT Google, and you can WRITE my Friday column!!!
And if you think LeBron is slipping at age 35, check out this geeky stat. With James on the court, the Lakers are on average, 8.5 points per 100 possessions better than their opponents. With James off the court, that net rating drops more than 10 points, all the way to minus 1.9.
Seeing L.A. was pretty much -5.5 across the board last night, but has moved up to -6.5.
if you can, buy the hook down to -6. And just like we did yesterday, gonna slice all our wagers for the first game of each series in half.
Over in Lisbon, in the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League, we were gonna go ALL IN on French champions Paris Saint-Germain to advance to the championship game, but there are some problems. PSG's outstanding midfielder Marco Verratti will miss and the number one goalkeeper, Keylor Navas, is most likely a no-go. However, Kylian Mbappe is ready to roll and Angel di Maria is back after a suspension. Oh yea, and they also have the guy with one name, Neymar! Still gonna drop a few chips on Les Parisiens to win, but just a thin slice. The big bundle will be a total play and it's OVER 2.5 goals at a very reasonable -$170.
And as long as I have your attention, try the Angels with Dylan Bundy over the Giants.
