It's opening day at Saratoga and I'll will be in attendance for the next few days. Hopefully the weather holds up and it's not Ecks and Bacon sizzling hot !
First Race - # 5 Bustin Bay won last race in a state bred optional claimer and now moves to open company and stretches out from a mile and a sixteenth to a mile and an eighth. Bay is 2 for 5 at Saratoga and is trained by Linda Rice who just captured the training title at the Belmont summer meet. To boot, Bay gets the services of top jock Jose Ortiz. Ortiz just captured the riding title at the same summer meet. This is a very tough and hot trainer/jockey combo! If let loose on the lead, Bustin Bay will be hard to beat . Another in this race that is intriguing is #6 Sabre Tuff. She takes a huge drop in class for trainer Dallas Stewart. After breaking her maiden last year the 3 year old has run her last seven races in stakes or graded company. She finished a respectable 4th in last year's Breeder Cup. Now she adds lasix and finally gets some class relief. The bet will be $20 to win, place and show on #5 Bustin Bay and a $5 exacta wheel 5 with all. Lets play two $10 D(aily) D(ouble) #5 and #6 in the first race with #9 in the second race.
Race 2- The bet is #9 Honey Dijon. $20 win, place, show and a $5 exacta wheel #9 with all. Honey is a 2 year old filly out of the sire Girvin. The trainer is Joe Sharp who also trained Girvin. The owner of Girvin also owns this filly! I love the last two 5f drills and the morning line of 10-1 is very generous.
Race 9 is the feature G3 Schuylerville for 2 yr old fillies run at 6f. This is a tough race but I like #5 Saratoga Secret. She is trained by Hall of Famer D Wayne Lukas and sired by Arrogate. Her last two works say she is ready to roll! The bet is $25 W(in)P(lace)S(how) on #5 Saratoga Secret and a $5 exacta wheel 5 with all.
